Pro tip – tooth brushing and how to brush your teeth effectively
-
Use the bathroom mirror, lean in and take a good look.
-
Break it up – brush each quadrant, upper right, upper left, lower left and lower right. First quadrant – brush the outer surfaces, the biting surfaces, then the inner surfaces, this should take 30 seconds. Repeat for the other quadrants. This will keep you on track and avoid over or under brushing certain areas.
-
Brush the gumlines and constantly change the angle of the brush to get in between the teeth as much as possible.
-
Use tight shaky motions, no big sweeps.
-
Invest in a good quality toothbrush! Did you know the curaprox, pictured, contains 5,460 ultrasoft bristles per toothbrush! No more harsh overbrushing and no more avoiding gumlines due to stabby bristles.
-
Check you work. Lift the lip, lean in to the mirror again, and use the toothbrush, dry, to try and see if any more plaque will rub off. Go over any missed spots that you notice.

Dr. Loan recommends brushing first thing in the morning and before bed to get into a nice rhythm.
